We Have Peace With God

Have you ever had to watch a loved one die? It is an excruciating experience. How does a person find peace when they have lost their job, are undergoing chemotherapy, or are watching their child walk away from God? What about when their savings has been wiped out? This week we will talk about where we can go to find peace in the midst of all this turmoil.

Scripture: Romans 5:1-5
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Hymns:
“Oh Worship the King”
“How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds”

Renewing Reflections
It is our prayer that Renewing Reflections will bless your life this coming week. This quote is taken from the sermon “Beyond the Physical“ delivered on Christian Crusaders September 5, 1999.
As believers in Christ, we are not exempt from difficult and depressing experiences. We confess our faith in Christ and are assured that God has forgiven our sins, but still have trials. Where do we go with our burdens? Are we not strong enough to carry them ourselves? . . .our faith is not perfect. However, if we live with God daily in His Word and the Holy Spirit is able to change words into living truths, we will get a good taste of what this verse is saying to us about peace. Then we can join the people of Judah who sang their hymn of praise, “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is steadfast because he trusts in you.”

On the Light Side
I felt like my body had gotten totally out of shape, so I got my doctor’s permission to join a fitness club and start exercising. I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors. I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour. But, by the time I got my leotards on, the class was over.
