Is There Life on the Other Side?

Is there life after death? Some people believe that life on this earth is all there is, while others believe everyone will go to heaven. What does Scripture teach? In this week’s sermon, we will talk about what life is like on the other side.

Scripture: Mark 9:2-10
After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.

Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters – one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah. (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.)

Then a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!”

Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus.

As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus gave them orders not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. They kept the matter to themselves, discussing what “rising from the dead” meant.

Renewing Reflections
It is our prayer that Renewing Reflections will be a blessing in your life this coming week. This quote is taken from the sermon Is there a Heavenly Home? delivered on Christian Crusaders July 22, 2001 by Rev. Larsen:

Some may deny there is life after death. Some will rely on their feelings to tell them what heaven is going to be like, but for those of us who take the Bible seriously, we have enough information to be confident that God has prepared something good for us. We have a base for our faith. It is not our feelings, nor ideas that have been passed down from generation to the next. It has been revealed to us through Christ our Lord.
